Q.    How can I arrange a viewing of a unit managed by NWT Community Services Corporation?

  • Please contact us via phone ((867) 873-2527 or email (admin@northernunitedplace.com)  and if we have a unit available we would be pleased to offer you a look.
     

Q.    Are pets allowed in my unit?

  • No, we do not allow pets in the building.


Q.     What if my total household income is more than $45,000 a year?

  • We only accept applications from people or families with a total household income less than $45,000 a year. You do not qualify for a unit if you make above this amount and your application will not be accepted. 


Q.     How do I qualify for a unit? 

  • You must make less than $45,000 per year in gross income. We only offer bachelor and one bedroom units so no more than 3 people can occupy a unit.


Q.     How long is the term on the lease agreement? 

  • Our lease agreements are open term. We only ask for 30 days written notice before vacating one of our units.
     

Q.     How long will it take to process my rental application?

  • Once all information is received, your application will be processed within 3 business days. If you qualify, you will then be placed on our waiting list or offered a unit if one is available.

Q.    How long is the waitlist for a unit? 

  • The time you spend on a waitlist can vary. On average, people wait 6 months before being offered a unit.


Q.    Are the units furnished?

  • No.  Each unit contains a fridge and stove but all other furnishings are the responsibility of the tenant


Q.     Do I need tenants’ insurance? 

  • Yes, we require proof of tenant liability insurance before being given the keys to your Unit.
     

Q.    How long do people typically live here? 

  • We have had some of our tenants live with us for over 20 years and others who live here for only a year or so, depending on their circumstances. Our average tenancy occupancy time is 9 years. 


Q.     Where are you located? 

  • We are located in downtown Yellowknife at 5403 Franklin Avenue. Schools, grocery stores, pharmacies and doctor’s offices are all within walking distance and there is a City of Yellowknife bus stop directly outside of the building.


Q.     What are your office hours? 

  • We are open from 9:00 a.m. to Noon and again from 1:30 to 4:30. We are closed weekends and holidays.
